01 — About

Who I Am

I'm a mechanical engineering student at Iowa State University who enjoys designing, building, and figuring out how things work. I'm especially interested in aerospace, propulsion, and high-performance engineering, and I like projects where I can take something from an idea to something I can actually build.

I'm a member of Iowa State's SAE Formula Team, where I work on the powertrain subsystem. I've designed switch plates, researched rules-compliant components, and previously worked as a junior cooling engineer, helping route cooling systems through the car's chassis. Formula has given me a chance to take what I'm learning in classes like statics, thermodynamics, and materials science and apply it to an actual car.

A lot of what I enjoy about engineering also carries into my personal projects. I'm currently building a night-vision helmet with an integrated IR camera and display, and 3D printing has been a hobby of mine for years. My projects have ranged from replacement parts for antique tractors to full-scale Halo armor. I like projects that force me to learn something new, whether that's electronics, programming, CAD, or fabrication.

Outside of engineering, I've played guitar since 2017 and have performed in concert series with rotating bands for audiences of more than 250 people.

My long-term goal is to work in aerospace propulsion, specifically jet engines. I've always been fascinated by the amount of thermodynamics, materials science, and precision engineering required to make a turbine work, and that's the kind of engineering challenge I want to build my career around.

Technical Toolkit

CAD / Modeling
SolidWorksAutodesk InventorOnshapeMesh Mixer
Used SolidWorks and Onshape on the SAE Formula Team to design a switch plate for mounting master switches and the TSMP to the chassis. Also used for personal projects including the custom John Deere tractor headlight housing.
3D Printing / FDM
Bambu StudioCreality SlicerFDM Printing
Extensive hands-on FDM experience across multiple printers. Printed a full-scale set of Halo Spartan armor, a custom tractor headlight housing, and am currently building a night-vision helmet with an integrated IR camera display.
Core Engineering
StaticsThermodynamicsMaterials science
Studying statics and materials science at Iowa State. Applied basic thermodynamics concepts while working as a junior cooling engineer on the SAE Formula Team, selecting and routing cooling tubes through the car.

04 — Projects

Selected Work

01

SAE Formula Car — Switch Plate Design

Designed a switch plate to mount master switches and the TSMP to the car chassis while keeping it watertight. Researched rules-compliant components to match car parameters.

SAE / Powertrain
02

SAE Formula Car — Cooling System

Researched cooling tube specifications for rule compliance, then physically installed the cooling tubes through the car chassis as part of Iowa State's SAE Formula Team.

03

Night Vision Helmet

Designing and printing a helmet with an integrated IR camera feed displayed on an internal screen — combining FDM fabrication with basic electronics integration.

04

John Deere Pedal Tractor Headlight

Custom modeled and printed a replacement headlight housing for an antique John Deere pedal tractor, reverse-engineering the original geometry for a precise fit.

CAD / FDM
05

Full-Scale Halo Spartan Armor

Scaled, sliced, and printed a complete set of Halo Spartan armor across multiple parts — requiring precise scaling, fit testing, and assembly across many print sessions.
